Ceramics Studio
Peak Potters is a pottery studio on the edge of the beautiful Peak District, close to Whaley Bridge and Chapel-En-Le-Frith, run by Helen Jacobs. The business was launched in 2016 and offers regular classes, one off workshops and private bookings for adults in a professionally equipped studio. All abilities warmly welcomed.
Regular Classes
Weekly 2 hour pottery classes during term time.
In class we aim to cover all the fundamental pottery techniques at your own pace eg.
coiling, pinching, slab building, extruding, sculpting, using hump moulds … and of course
throwing on the potter’s wheel.
We also cover decorative techniques such as impressing, gouging, piercing, sgraffito, using
sprigs, stamps, coloured slips, underglazes, glazes, resists etc!
One Off Workshops
I regular invite guest artists to run sessions in my studio. Please come back regularly to check schedules.
Private Bookings
Private 2 hour session for individuals or small groups up to a maximum of 14 people although groups up to 8 are recommended.
Book your session at a mutually convenient time. Come with your own ideas, be inspired by
other people’s work on the shelves around the workshop or from inspiration sheets.
I will make sure everyone is set up with the clay, tools, inspiration and technique
tips they need to start.
Don’t worry if you are a complete beginner! I’ll be there to
talk you through it.
The potter’s wheels are also available for use with tuition, and are great fun!
