Helen Jacobs

Helen Jacobs studied Foundation in Art at Manchester Metropolitan University and achieved a First in her Batchelor of Fine Arts Sculpture degree at Sheffield Hallam University.

Whilst living in York for 4 years she, and her partner Mark, opened The Tower Contemporary Visual Arts gallery, showcasing up and coming visual artists' work in a medieval building that was part of the city walls - Fishergate Postern Tower. During this time she also followed her passion for Ceramics, studying at York College, and for furniture making at Leeds College of Art and Design.

In 2004 she moved to Sheffield where she rented an art studio at S1 Artspace to follow her art practice and took up position there as Curatorial Assistant for the S1 Artspace gallery. In Sheffield she studied under ceramicist Brian Holland at the Yorkshire Art Space and was a key volunteer for Sheffield Contemporary Art Forum, assisting the group to mount the biennial festival 'Art Sheffield' and travelling to Venice for the Sheffield Art Pavillion at the 2007 Art Biennale.

​In 2006 Helen and Mark married and in 2007 moved to Whaley Bridge in the High Peak to work on their newly purchased derelict mill. Two children and 10 years later...
